MY PORE-REFINING MUST-HAVES.

The general concensus when it comes to skincare is that those with tighter, more refined pores are usually the ones with clearer, 'better-looking' skin - and it's probably true.

Typically, larger pores tend to be associated with those with oilier complexions, and the large appearance of pores indicates that the pores are blocked. Blocked pores can come in the form or blackheads or whiteheads (neither are pretty), and for the person suffering from the issue, it can be incredibly upsetting.

I'd like to think that through my years of beauty blogging and even more years of beauty product sampling, my understanding of skincare is quite thorough. For example, I know that those with 'normal' skin types need only gentle products to keep their skin clear and healthy. Meanwhile, those with oilier skin who are prone to breakouts tend to benefit from stronger forumalations, particularly those that feature Salicylic Acid as a key ingredient.

Honestly, though, skincare is a tough one, and if you're getting it wrong, it can take weeks or even months to correct the damage that you might have inflicted on your skin. So, if your face is looking red or feeling enflamed, today's the day to start fixing things!

And, for those of you with enlarged pores and excess oil, today is also the day to start sorting things out. In fact, for you guys in particular, this post should be incredibly helpful, as I am going to share with you my favourite products for refining pores and improving skin texture.

Got your attention?

I thought I might. It's time to read on...

We all dream of that glowing complexion that radiates in every way and never experiences even the slightest imperfection - but whilst this might not seem 'realistic', it's actually not completely out of reach - if you know what products to use, that is.

So, you've got large pores and you want to banish those breakouts for good? Not a problem - these are my ultimate pore-refining, oil-reducing, texture-perfecting goodies...

MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator

This jet-black exfoliator is a must-have for those wishing to refine their pores and slough away those dead skin cells that cause unsightly breakouts. Just a small amount works wonders and the natural power of the scrub means that you need only massage in very gentle, circular motions for the most incredible results. I use this scrub once a week and have to really tell myself not to keep touching my face afterwards, because it just feels so good! If you have really oily skin, you could probably get away with twice a week, but I wouldn't advise anything more frequent than that.

Origins Clear Improvement Clay Mask

This traditional-style clay mask works like magic on the skin, leaving it super supple and smooth and drawing out any impurities that may lead to a breakout. If you have really oily skin, you may even be able to see the oil being pulled out by the mask if you look really closely in the mirror, too. Similarly to scrubs, masks should be strictly limited to weekly applications only. Otherwise, you may find that your skin becomes dry or dehydrated.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Toner

Designed especially for those with acne and excess oil, this affordable yet effective toner from La Roche Posay can be used both morning and night on problem skin to help reduce oil and prevent the overproduction of sebaceous glands. By sweeping this solution lightly over skin using a cotton wool pad each day, you'll soon begin to notice a clear improvement in your complexion.

So there you have it - my ultimate trio of pore-refining, skin-perfecting products.
