As I've gotten older, I've become a lot less 'big nights out' and a lot more 'trips for coffee and cake.' I do remember the days where I would literally go out three and even four nights a week, but they're a far cry from the latte-loving woman that I am today!
There's no denying that I simply don't enjoy going out drinking as much as I used to, but whilst I tend to steer clear of Jaeger bombs and Apple Sourz, I do still love to get out and about...just in a different way.
I'd say that since settling down into a 'proper' relationship, getting engaged and just generally becoming more mature, my priorities have completely changed. These days, I'm quite happy to stay in and watch TV with a bag of munchies - I love home life! However, I do still enjoy going out and having a nice time during the day.
I'm fortunate to live in an area where there are lots of cute bars, pubs and eateries right on the doorstep. So, I often spend my weekends on Uppermill High street with a nice coffee and some boutique shopping. For me, weekends like this are just idyllic - and even better when a yummy piece of cake comes into the picture!
The Vintage Cupcake Kitchen in Uppermill is a fabulous home-grown business that specialises in gorgeous cakes. They sell pretty much everything from blondies and brownies, to milky bar cheesecake and malteaser cupcakes. And oh my gosh, they're just amazing.
This Sunday just gone, Marc, me, my mum, my sister and my niece and nephew all headed to The Vintage Cupcake Kitchen for a little afternoon treat. And as always, everything was amazing.
I opted for the Jammy Dodger cupcake, meanwhile Marc and my sister had a slice of the Milky Bar Cheesecake. It was my niece who ordered the show-stopper, though - take it from me, if you haven't been to VCK before, make sure you order the 'Rainbow.' I promise you won't be disappointed!
I love family days in the sunshine, and our visit to VCK on Sunday was the perfect way to finish a lovely little weekend.
