Autumn is without a shadow of a doubt, one of my favourite times of the year. I love those crisp, autumnal mornings. I love the oranges and browns of the leaves that are scattered on the ground. And I love those cosy evenings in sitting by the fire.
I read a quote on Pinterest the other day, and although I can't remember it word for word, it was basically saying that autumn in proof that things coming to an end can be beautiful - and I really liked it. I always feel like there's an air of sadness when summer ends and the cold weather starts creeping back, but autumn is actually such a beautiful season, we should celebrate it as much as we possibly can.
When I was younger, the one thing that really excited me about autumn was Halloween. I've always loved dressing up and getting into the Halloween spirit - though much less now, really - but now, I'm 25, and I've started appreciating the smaller things and how they make me feel.
At this time of year, possibly because the air is so fresh, I feel refreshed in my own mind. I feel so focused right now and I'm excited for the future. There's so much going on in my life right now, and I feel like, almost for the first time ever, I'm experiencing life as a real adult.
I know it sounds really cliche, but my mum always told me that when I got older, I'd begin to take joy from the smaller things - going for a coffee and watching the world go by, eating out in country pubs, going for walks even in the rain - and it's so true.
And at this time of year, I feel like I enjoy all those things even more.
Another thing that I love about autumn is of course, the fashion. For me, autumn and winter fashion is so much easier than spring/summer, and the colours and so much wholesome and British. I love all the deep reds, oranges, greens and navy blues that resurface when autumn arrives, and I can't wait to kit out my wardrobe with all those lovely colours.
Autumn also welcomes the return of my favourite choice of footwear ever - boots! Thigh-highs, ankle, Chelsea...you name it, I'm there. I'm currently resisting the burning temptation to buy 50 new pairs of boots and congest my wardrobes to the point of bursting. And it's very difficult to resist indeed.
I really do love this season and I'm already enjoying it so much. Are you enjoying autumn? What's your favourite thing about this season? Drop a comment in the box below - I'd love to hear from you.
Until next time, beauts.
Lots of love,
Grace x
