HOW TO PREP AND PRIME YOUR SKIN.

Over the last few years, it would appear that we've all learned a heck of a lot about makeup. I don't know about you, but when I compare my current makeup routine to the one I adopted say when I was, 21 or 22, the whole thing pretty much entirely different. I applied my products differently, I used different products, and there were some products that were completely absent from my routine altogether.

Social media platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest continue to teach us more and more about makeup every single day. These micro-blogging apps allow us to share photographs of ourselves and others with the world, and in doing so, we are constantly learning new and innovative beauty tips & tricks.

And one of the most important things that I've learned is all about prepping and priming the skin to help create the perfect base and give everything a healthy, dewy glow to finish off. So, for this blog post, I've decided to share with you my favourite products which I use everyday to prep and prime, along with a couple of tips on how to apply them.

So, first things first, let's talk about priming. Priming the skin helps create the perfect base for makeup, and smooths over the skin to even everything out. There are tons of different primers out there, each designed to do something different (some refine pores, other help even out the skin tone), but they're all made to help make your makeup stay in place and looking fabulous for as long as possible.

It took me years and years to finally introduce primer into my makeup routine, but now, I just couldn't be without it! When I'm looking for new primers to try, I tend to keep my eye out for those that help give the skin a glow and a lovely fresh finish. And that's why I just can't get enough of my NYX Born To Glow Illuminating Primer.

NYX Born To Glow Illuminating Primer

I absolutely adore this primer, and at just £12.50, it's an absolute bargain! I've been using this primer for about 6-8 weeks now (possibly a little longer) and I'm totally obsessed. I've used lots of expensive primers in the past, including the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow, but I find that this one is just as good! In terms of the formula itself, this primer has a gel-like consistency to it, and has a white, pearly glow to it which instantly lifts the complexion to leave it looking super radiant and healthy.

I'm really loving NYX products at the moment, but this one in particular has really, really impressed me. I can't get over how lovely the product is, how long it's lasting me and the amazing value for money. It's gorgeous, and I'd recommend it to anyone that likes their skin to look fresh and glowy. It's a must-have!

KIKO Prep & Prime Fix Refreshing Mist

Face mists are one of my favourite ever beauty products, and this gorgeous one from KIKO is fast becoming one of my ultimate holy grail products. Not only do I love the packaging of this product (it's just so sleek and luxurious feeling), at less than a tenner, it's also super affordable (£9.90 exactly for those of you that are wondering) and the results are incredible. I spritz onto my face once all my makeup has been applied to reveal a complexion that fresh, dewy and bursting with radiance. If you love rocking a gorgeous, youthful glow, the KIKO Prep & Prime Fix Refreshing Mist simply needs to be added to your payday shopping list!

NARS Laguna Liquid Bronzer

This product can be used in a whole range of different ways - on top of makeup, mixed in with makeup - the choice is yours. For me, I like to mix one pump of the NARS Laguna Liquid Bronzer in with my primer to create a luminous, bronzing base for my makeup. What I love about this product is that it just looks so natural when it's applied, yet it completely transforms the look of the skin at the same time. I blend with my NYX Born to Glow before doting onto my face and lightly massaging onto my skin to reveal a fresh, bronzed base that's perfect for summer.

At £27, this is more of a high end product than the previous two featured in this post, but it's well worth the extra cash. I've had my bottle since January and I've still got tons left - it seems to last forever, but I'm not complaining!

I really hope you enjoyed this post & I can't wait to share more exciting stuff with you guys very soon!

Lots of love,
Grace x
