HOW TO TAKE YOUR MAKEUP FROM DAY TO NIGHT.

I must admit, although I do love my makeup, I’m not a massive fan of anything too heavy, and so even during the evening and on nights out, I tend not to wear anything too intense.

Don’t get me wrong - I have absolutely nothing against anyone who loves their big false lashes and super-sculpted contour. In fact, on some people, I think it looks great and I genuinely am in awe of the amazing skills these people have. It’s truly incredible! However, for me personally, I find the natural look always sits a little better.

During the day, I have a collection of staple products that I use to create my signature look. These products are as follows...

I absolutely adore each and every one of these products and together, they team up harmoniously to create a chic and sophisticated look that suits my taste perfectly.

But how does someone like me, who prefers not to wear too much when they go ‘out out’ take their look from daytime to evening?

Well, I’m going to talk to you about this in this post.

My signature night out look isn’t drastically dissimilar to my daytime look, and while that might sound a little boring to some, for me, it works great & this is how I feel most confident.

Anyway, On those evenings when I’m heading out to dinner with Marc or I’m going for a couple of drinks with friends, I use just a small selection of products to take my makeup to the next level and take things up a notch on the glam-ometer, and these products are as follows...

As you can probably tell just by reading this list, the biggest change to my makeup look and the feature I put more focus on when I go ‘out out’ is my eyes.

Bright, vibrant colours aren’t really my thing, but golds, browns, nudes and pinks definitely get my seal of approval - which is why the NYX Warm Neutrals Palette is one of my favourite ever makeup purchases.

This Palette is so affordable (just £16 for £16 amazing shades!) and the shadows are just so pigmented.

In order to achieve my going out look, I start by brushing on one of the softer, lighter colours - I love the peachy tones - before using one of the deeper shades to colour the outer corners of my eyes.  I find that browns work really well with the peachy tones, while bronzes compliment the gold shades perfectly.

To complete my eye shadow look, I take a fine brush and stroke just beneath the lash line. This helps to open up the eye and create a cool, smokey eye look. The smokey eye has come on leaps and bounds since the early days and now, if greys and blacks just aren’t your thing, it doesn’t matter - you can use pretty much any other colour to create the same effect.

When this part is done, I move onto the bit that scares me a little - eyeliner.

Back in my ‘emo days’, eyeliner was my ultimate makeup vice and let’s just say I wasn’t afraid to layer it on thick to make an impact. My makeup skills have come a heck of a long way since then (thank god) but the picture evidence still haunts me to this day! So, eyeliner always feels like a bit of a risk these days...

However, fortunately, lots of practice and impressive guided makeup tutorials on YouTube have blessed me with the ability to apply eyeliner without morphing into a human panda.

The trick? Less is most definitely more, and applying as closely to the lash line as possible is 100% the way to go.

Applying liner in this way creates the illusion of thicker lashes and bigger eyes at the same time, and better yet, it never looks over the top. It’s subtle but glamorous. Perfect!

As that all important final finishing touch, I take my Stila Liquid Eye Shadow and pop it just above the black liner that I’ve used to fill in my lash line. The addition of the glitter helps to create a fabulous festive look that’s perfect for the party season.

What’s your signature daytime look? Do you have a signature going out look, too?! I’d love to know! Be sure to comment on the comments box below.

Until next time lovelies!

Lots of love,
Grace x
