WHY I'VE PUT MYSELF ON A SPENDING BAN.

Is anyone else still on a high from the dawning of a brand new year? I mentioned in my last post about how positive and optimistic I feel about the next 12 months, and I'm looking forward to sharing lots of lovely content with you all again. I've been on a four-month-long blogging hiatus, but now, I'm ready to get stuck back in and throw myself into the world of content creation.

And for this blog post, I thought I'd talk about something that I've been thinking about for a long time, but never actually committed to...

A spending ban.

And more specifically, a self-imposed spending ban.

Like most women (and men for that matter), I love to treat myself, and during the festive season in particular, I find it all too easy to mindlessly scroll. Before long, I've added 14 items to my Zara basket and I'm literally cramming clothes into my already jam-packed wardrobe.

Gorgeous clothes, accessories, beauty products and home decor delights are all things I love to treat myself to, but all of a sudden, I've reached this point where I'm like 'when is enough actually enough?' I mean, how many high neck jumpers can one woman genuinely need?

I'm a shopaholic. There, I said it! And whilst this isn't an uncommon problem to have, it's one that I'm determined to overcome. So, I've set myself the goal of spending a lot, lot less, and in turn, saving a lot, lot more.

Now that we have Eric and we have visions and aspirations of where we want to be in the future and so on, I've began to think a lot more about the steps that both Marc and I need to take in order to get there. I know that if we want our dream house and all those beautiful family holidays year in and year out, we both need to continue to work hard, but to put away as much money as possible each month, too.

I think I've just got into this really bad habit of feeling as though all disposable cash I earn should be spent on pretty things, but now, I want to focus on saving cash, instead.

Marc and I are actually really good at saving - when we get into it, that is! But recently, we've both massively over-indulged on online shopping, and I think it's taken physically seeing all of those things in the wardrobe and piled high on our shelves to realise that something needs to change. So, as much as I love a medium-large ZARA haul once a month, I've made a pact with myself to keep hold of my cash, instead.

To help with with my super-saving mission, I've written down exactly how much I intend to save each month when I get paid. I have multiple sources of income, so a percentage of my incomings will be transferred into a saving account immediately and I have made the decision to make that saving account completely untouchable. In the past, I have pledged to save 'x' amount of money each month and then gone onto transfer money from my savings back into my current account as and when I spotted something I loved.

But now, I'm being strong, and I am calling time on my unhealthy relationship with online shopping. And when better to make positive change than at the start of a brand new year?

As a blogger, I will continue to share all the products/investments that I do make - my pledge is to be more specific with my purchases and to stop that terrible mindless scrolling habit once and for all. So, if any of you are wondering what on earth I am going to be sharing with you all moving forward, don't worry, there will still be plenty of exciting content for you!

I really hope you all enjoyed this little blog post and I'm looking forward to sharing more about my progress with this resolution!

Until next time, lovelies!

Lots of love,

Grace x
