Kylie's lips are such a huge talking point, that they may actually be more famous than Kylie herself. In fact, many people believe that Kylie's enormous influx of popularity and success is the result of her plumped-up pout.
One thing's for sure, and that's that Kylie Jenner has taught us all exactly how important our lips really are - and being equipped with the right set tools to emphasise our lips is equally essential.
And this, is where Kylie Jenner has found her forte.
Kylie first launched her cosmetics brand, aptly named 'Kylie Cosmetics' back in 2015, and since then, we've all gone a teeny, tiny, weeny, little bit more mad about Kylie Jenner.
Though Kylie's range of cosmetics is expanding, her globally-loved 'lip kits' are still the popular choice amongst us Kylie fans.
Until recently, I'd been meaning to buy a kit to see what all the fuss was about for myself, but when Marc surprised me with not one, but TWO kits this sunday just gone, he saved me a job - and made me a very, very happy girl, obviously.
So, it's official, I'm finally on the Kylie Lipkit train and I feel like I'm now up to speed with the rest of the world by joining the hype.
But what's the verdict? Do the Kylie Lipkits really live up to the expecation surrounding them? Or is this all just another last-ditch attempt at a celebrity trying to find their way in the world of cosmetics?
Come on now, this is Kylie Jenner we are talking about - of course it's not.
Marc surprised me with 'KOKO K' and 'KRISTEN K', and I'm already head over heels in love with both kits.
I'd already decided that when I did go ahead and buy a kit, that it had to be KOKO K. I love the sugary-pink, nude kind of shade of this kit - so when I opened the oh-so-exciting Kylie Cosmetics delivery box, I was pretty overjoyed at Marc's choice - major brownie points.
KRISTEN K - my second Kylie Lip Kit - is also amazing. I hadn't checked this shade out before, but it's stunning. I would describe KRISTEN K as a deep, pinky-red, berry shade that's ideal for autumn and winter. I wore it properly for the first time yesterday and loads of people told me how much they loved the colour. Always a bonus!
Okay, so that's the overview of my chosen shades. Now, let's dissect the kits properly, starting with the packaging and moving on...
Outer Packaging
Having browsed the Kylie Cosmetics website numerous times in the past - and usually clicking off after seeing the message 'out of stock' far too many times - I already had a pretty decent idea as to the type of packaging that the lip kits would arrive in. However, it wasn't until I opened that little black postage box that I really got to experience the full effect of the kits. Firstly, I'll clarify that the boxes the kits come in are so eye-catching and Kylie-esque, but not only that, the cute little note, written by Kylie herself, is the cutest thing ever. I feel absolutely no shame in admitting that I felt like a kid at Christmas when I read the note out - aloud. Everything about the presentation of the Kylie Lip kits just proves what a perfectionist Kylie Jenner really is. You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the graphics, styling and overall presentation of the products - and for me, this goes a long way.
Applicator Design
Okay, so as part of each kit, you get one matte lipstick, and one liner to match. True to form, the style of both applicators is as slick and classy as Kylie herself. Both applicators are really simplistic, and I love the fact that the 'lipstick' is presented as a gloss-style applicator rather than the traditional twisty tube that we're all used to using. When it comes to the liner, you do really get the feel of a premium brand cosmetic product. The sleek, black outer teamed with the pretty, silver writing is really nice. Definitely a thumbs up from me.
Ease of Application
There are so many fantastic colours and shades flooding the cosmetic market at the moment, but if a product is difficult to apply, then all that colour-perfecting research is completely wasted. Fortunately for Kylie and her glamourous team, they've absolutely nailed this one. What really struck me about the lip kits was how both the liner and the matte lipstick glided onto my lips so fluidly - there was absolutely no mess at all. The gloss-style lipstick applicator makes for an even and precise application, meanwhile the highly-pigmented liner slides over the outer of the lip to reveal a perfectly plumped-up pout. Stunning.
Colour
As I mentioned earlier, I have been really impressed with both KOKO K and KRISTEN K in terms of colour. Both shades are highly pigmented so you get a really vibrant and stand-out colour - and I have no doubt that the rest of the kits are exactly the same in this regard. I could honestly praise the colour of these kits all day, but I'm sure you get the idea.
Longevity
With some brands, there's often the need to 'go over' your lips or 'top up' every 2-3 hours, but even after eating and drinking my body weight in festive foodie delights at the Christmas markets on Sunday, my KOKO K lips still looked absolutely perfect. Yesterday, I wore KRISTEN K for work, and I was equally impressed. Generally speaking, I am a huge fan of MAC's Lustre range of lippies, which boast a semi-gloss finish. The only downside to Lustre is that you have to reapply fairly regularly, So, for me, the fact that I didn't have to reapply felt great. Seriously impressed.
If it wasn't already clear from all of the above, I am absolutely besotted with my new Kylie Lip Kits. If you've been thinking about purchasing, but had small reservations about any of the above factors, then I urge you to bite the bullet and buy. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Have you already got a Kylie Lip Kit, or do you have a whole collection of them already? What are your favourite colours? I'd love to know, so make sure you comment or direct message me.
Lots of love,
Grace x
