I'm a firm believer in the notion that any great makeup look starts with great skincare. Your skin is your natural base, and if it's not well taken care of, then you're makeup won't look as great as it possibly could do.
However, with that said, the occasional bad skin day or unavoidable bout of tiredness after that long, hard week at work is of course, inevitable. So, it's important that on those days where you wake up, look in the mirror and think 'oh my, where do I even start?', that you have a set of products that can rescue you and make you feel alive.
Like most other women, in fact, probably more so than most other women, actually, I absolutely love makeup. And of course, More specifically, I love premium brand makeup. For years, I've been an avid worshipper of the likes of MAC, Bobbi Brown and NARS. I like to look my best, and these brands promise a finish that's just to die for.
I suppose, in some ways, for a beauty blogger, I like sticking to what I know. I like to find one core product for each makeup bag essential. For example, I will always turn to MAC for lipsticks and liners, and my cream concealer has to be KIKO. However, this weekend, I decided to have a bit of a switch up from one of my usual buys, and opted to step out of my comfort zone for one product which simply can't be gotten wrong - foundation.
As most of you guys will know, I'm a huge fan of the MAC Face and Body Foundation. I've been buying it for years now and it's always served me so well. However, after hearing a bunch of rave reviews about the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation, I felt compelled to have a random switch up and try something new.
And I'm so glad I did.
Priced at £32 for a 40ml bottle, the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation sits comfortably in the middle of the premium brand price range when it comes to foundation. It's neither right at the top, or right at the bottom. In my opinion, it's kind of what us premium brand-buyers expect to pay. So, in terms of value for money, I'd say that this product is pretty fair.
And in terms of quality? Well, where do I even start with this? It's just incredible.
For someone who loves new products but does tend to worry about making a bad decision when it comes to cosmetics, I really am so pleased that I took the plunge and bought this foundation. I knew that there was no way I'd be disappointed as such, but I was concerned that I'd just constantly compare it back to my trusty MAC saviour. So far, though, there's been none of that at all.
Presented in a beautiful, rectangular-shaped tube with a pretty golden screw-top lid, the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation oozes opulence from the get-go. Everything about the product is clean and pretty and the sense of luxury is really prominent from the start. And, moving onto the qualities of the physical product itself, the Light Wonder foundation excels in every single way.
Firstly, you only need a tiny little blob - always a huge benefit when you're splashing out on expensive products. I found that a small, pea-sized amount covered my whole face and left my complexion really glowing and illuminated. And the coverage is fantastic. Cakey, heavy foundations really aren't my thing, but I do like to look flawless and dewy, and the light wonder Foundation gets a big green tick for both of these things. After applying, I couldn't stop staring at myself in the mirror (seriously!) because my face just looked so radiant and healthy!
Very impressive.
In fact, out of all of the premium brand counters that I go to, I'd have to say that Charlotte Tilbury is one of the most impressive of all. The staff were brilliant - very helpful and of course, very glam. And also, the entire store just looks fantastic. I love all the rose gold and gorgeously-designed tubes and bottles - so pretty.
I absolutely love my new foundation and I can't wait to invest in more Charlotte Tilbury goodies in the near future. And of course, I will be reviewing them all for you on Exclusively Grace!
Stay tuned for more exciting reviews, news and more coming your way very soon, my lovelies.
Lots of love,
Grace x
