ELECTRONIC CLEANSERS: ARE THEY REALLY WORTH IT?

A strong skincare routine that incorporates a thorough cleansing ritual is essential to looking and feeling our best. And in achieving this, it's important to do some research on what works for your skin and what doesn't.

Generally speaking, those with oilier complexions have to do a little more than those with 'normal' skin. However, with that said, no matter what skin type you have, it's imperative that you know what products to use and how to use them, too.

In terms of my own skin, I'd probably lean towards saying that my type is fairly 'normal'. Obviously, like most women, I do suffer occasionally from small hormonal breakouts, but nothing particularly 'bad', so to speak. During 'that time' of the month, I usually notice that my skin is slightly oilier than usual, but I've learnt how to control that with both my diet and my skincare regime.

I've found that when it comes to my diet, avoiding dairy is a great way to reduce issues. The problem with that is my iced latte addiction - but hey, everything in moderation, right? That's what I tell myself anyway!

When it comes to my actual skincare regime, though, one of the biggest and most important tools that I use is my electric cleanser. There are lots of mixed reviews about these things and with several brands now retailing their own versions, it can be tricky to make a choice. For those who haven't got one, though, I'd definitely recommend the Philips Visapure.

Generally speaking, the Philips Visapure electric facial cleansers retail at around £100-£140 (approximately), however, when I bought mine, I managed to grab it whilst it was on special offer in Boots. I think at the time it worked out at about £70 instead of £140, saving me £70 for shoes - always a winner - but even if I had spent the full £140, I still don't think I'd feel as though I'd wasted my money.

This brush style cleanser comes with two separate brush heads - one 'normal' and one 'sensitive' - basically, one has thicker bristles than the other so it's slightly more abrasive on the skin. Typically speaking, for use on a daily basis, I'd recommend using the sensitive brush head as it's a much more gentle exfoliation and leaves the skin feeling lovely and smooth without making it red or sore. These things can be all too easy to overdo, so it's important not to get carried away.

So, do I think that electric cleansers are worth the investment?

In a word, yes.

What I find difficult with face washes alone, even if they have mild exfoliating beads in them, is that they don't always leave the skin feeling completely smooth. As someone who wears makeup most days, I like to know that I've sloughed away every last bit of foundation, mascara and everything else from my face, and that my pores are thoroughly refreshed - and sometimes, a simple face wash doesn't always achieve the desired effect.

This is when the electronic facial cleansers really come into their own.

The rotating brush head massages the face gently to deeply cleanse each individual facial pore without being harsh or aggressive on the skin. In total, I spend around two minutes covering my entire face and allowing my face wash to properly foam up before rinsing away with warm, and then cold water. Afterwards, my skin feels like glass it's that smooth.

So girls, if you're looking for a product or a tool that's going to leave your skin feeling incredible, I would strongly recommend introducing an electric cleanser to your skincare routine. I've never looked back since I started using mine, and I'm confident that you'll love yours just as much as I do!

Happy cleansing beauts!

Lots of love,
Grace x
