For me, the perfect every day lipstick shade is something very subtle - a classic nude or a mauve/dusky pink that will compliment my makeup without looking too 'out there' or obvious.
For this reason, MAC Viva Glam II is my current go-to shade.
In the past, I've been quite 'anti' satin and matte finishes - I've always preferred more glossy textures as I think they look much fresher - but I'm literally loving the look and feel of this lipstick. Not only does the satin finish mean that this lipstick lasts much longer than cremesheen or lustre textures, Viva Glam II is honestly the most perfect nude-pink shade ever.
And let's face it, the quest for the 'perfect nude' lipstick is a very serious thing.
At the moment, I'm wearing Viva Glam II with my trusty MAC Whirl liner - which I pretty much pair with every other lipstick I own. I find that Whirl matches seamlessly with Viva Glam II, allowing me to over-line my lips slightly without them looking ridiculous.
So, if a fuller looking, kissable pout is your thing, I highly recommend this combination.
In terms of the packaging of this lipstick, it's almost identical to the regular MAC bullets, except for one key difference - the accent colour of the bullet. Where the majority of other 'regular' MAC lipsticks have a black cannister and silver accent, MAC Viva Glam II (and all of the other Viva Glam lipsticks) feature red, instead. I love the shape of the MAC lipstick bullets, and the deep red on the Viva Glam collection is a really nice finishing touch.
All proceeds of the MAC Viva Glam lipstick collection go towards the MAC AIDS fund, which means that Viva Glam II and the remainder of the Viva Glam collection are not included in the Back-2-MAC scheme. As I always have MAC empties to trade in, it's a shame I won't be to trade in my old cannisters and tubes for this lipstick, but I love that the money spent on this collection contributes to such a great cause.
