Once I’m in the zone with my blogging, I could honestly
write for hours and hours and hours – and sometimes, that’s exactly what I do!
I blog both in my full-time job, and of course, I blog as a hobby for
Exclusively Grace, too. Writing is something that I’m just so passionate about,
and I love being able to share my thoughts, opinions and favourite things with
the world.
Being able to blog and own my own little bit of space on the
web is probably my favourite thing about the internet. I love that the internet
allows me to keep this little online diary that I can share with other people,
and I find it particularly amazing that other people want to read what I write.
Of course, I’m not a big or famous blogger, but if my blogs are enjoyed by just
one other person, then that makes me really happy.
The blogosphere is now bigger and better than ever before,
and there are just so many people that want to tap into this industry. It’s a
very exciting industry to be a part of – glamorous events, pretty products,
meeting amazing new people – the benefits of blogging are honestly endless. But
don’t be fooled, this little hobby also happens to be a very demanding, full-time
commitment. Even when I’m not writing for my blog, I’m almost always looking
for inspiration and ideas for future posts. It can be difficult to find
motivation sometimes, and without the ‘right’ setting and scenery, putting pen
to paper (or fingertips to keyboard) can be incredibly difficult.
I’m not sure how other bloggers feel about this, but I do
find that I work better at certain times of the day than I do others. I also
find that I blog better in certain environments than I do others, too. For
example, I wouldn’t be able to blog whilst sat in front of the TV. Like most
other people in this world, I love a good chill out session, sat in front of
the TV in my pyjamas, but there’s absolutely no way I could create exciting and
inspirational content with Pretty Little Liars on in the background. It’s just
too much of a distraction!
For this blog post, I’ve decided to share with you all when
and where I feel I blog the best. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to take all
that much away from this post, but if you are feeling particularly stuck for
words, or in a bit of a rut with your blog at the moment, it might be nice to
hear how I get myself back into the zone when I’m struggling. Sometimes, a
clear desk and a nice tidy room is all you need to clear up your headspace and
motivate yourself.
Coffee AND Water
First things first, in order to create amazing content that
inspires and captivates, I need a lovely hot drink and a glass of water. I
always have either a latte, an Earl Grey or a green tea when I’m blogging, as
well as a glass of water with loads of ice. Perhaps it’s a little strange that
I need both a hot and an icy cold drink when I blog, but I just feel as though
the hot drink is comforting and cosy, and the cold is fresh and revitalising. I
always have my tea or coffee in my favourite, huge cappuccino mug, and if I’m
feeling like I need a little extra zing, I pop a slice of lemon or lime into my
water. I find that the caffeine is great for a quick surge of energy, whilst
the water is the perfect drink to rehydrate.
A Clear, Fresh Space
I honestly can’t stress how important it is for me to blog
in a clear and fresh space. I’m one of those people that can’t process my
thoughts in the same way in an untidy environment, and so I always work my best
when my home office is neat and tidy. On a sunny spring or summer day, I would
always have the window open for a little fresh air, and in the cooler, darker
months, I tend to pop a lamp on and light a candle. My favourite candle at the
moment is the Black Cherry flavoured one from Woodwick – it’s amazing!
Nice Stationery
As well as my laptop, which I obviously need to type
everything up, I need cute stationery! Ever since being really little, I’ve
always loved stationery. Nice pens, notebooks and diaries are right up my
street, and for some reason, I always feel as though I work better when I am
writing with a pretty pen. I’m guessing this will either make loads of sense,
or leave people feeling really confused – hopefully no the latter!
I really hope that you enjoyed this blog post, and I can’t
wait to share more with you soon.
Lots of love,
Grace x
