I'm constantly pledging the importance of skincare. Why? Because it's something I really am passionate about. Skincare is so much more than just getting up in the morning and rinsing our faces in the shower. It's about finding a specific collection of products and brands that help optimise the look of our skin. Our skin is the largest organ in our body, so if you ask me, taking care of it properly is kind of a big deal.
Of course, there is a lot of confusion surrounding skincare - what to use, what not to use and so on. With so much press coverage and articles about skincare and what we should and shouldn't do, all the 'help' that people try to throw our way can sometimes do more harm than good. I mean, is it really necessary to buy the most expensive face cream in the world? Sure, Kim Kardashian might swear by it, but what if we don't? What if it doesn't suit our skin? Skincare is about what works for us, which is why I would always advise people to learn more about their own skin before purchasing a product recommended by somebody else in haste.
This is something that I have done so many times before, and if I were to calculate the amount of money I've basically chucked down the drain as a result, I know I'd be absolutely horrified.
The thing is, as someone who is so passionate about beauty, I am, with regret (sometimes anyway), a salespersons dream. If the pretty lady in Selfridges tells me that the face cream she is selling is going to change my life and make me look better than ever before, 99% of the time, I will buy it. Well, that's what I used to do anyway. I haven't always paid great attention to my own personal skin type, and I've learned the hard way that expensive products won't work miracles on a skin type that the product isn't suited to.
These days, I'm much more wise. I've learned a lot about my skin and I know what works for me and what doesn't. I steer clear of heavy creams and lotions, and anything that's overly drying is also firmly crossed off the list. I find that light products work well on my skin, and I much prefer facial oils to facial creams.
There are a few products on the market that cater perfectly to my skin, and after a cheeky little skincare haul in Boots the other day, I'm officially stocked up on complexion perfecting products. So, for this blog post, I thought I would share my purchases with you and give you a little bit more information about each of the items I bought. I hope you enjoy!
While I didn't actually plan on buying this before I went into Boots, when the lovely lady in Clarins told me that I'd get £10 of Boots points if I bought two products rather than one, I simply couldn't resist. There was a mild battle between my two consciences for a couple of moments, but in the end, needless to say, I made the investment. I've used the Clarins Iris Toning Lotion before, but I'm literally talking years ago. Back then, it was a skincare product I relied upon religiously and one that I re-bought time and time again, and in all honesty, I'm, not entirely sure why I ever stopped using it. It's an incredible product and it works great on my skin.
Clarins do a selection of different toning lotions to cater to the various skin type categories. The Clarins Iris Toning Lotion is actually for oily complexions, and whilst I don't consider myself to have especially oily or greasy skin, my skin does tend to fall into the 'combination skin' category, and so I find this product works great for me.
What I really love about this product is that it tones my skin and tightens my pores without my skin feeling dry or sore afterwards. I'm a sucker for the 'tingling' feeling with skincare products, as I can tell it's 'doing something', but now, I'm trying to avoid anything that stings too much, and focus more on products that feel comfortable on my skin when I apply them. For that reason - amongst many others - I am so happy I have rediscovered this product.
The formula is gentle on my skin, but after using it, I can immediately see a huge difference in the way my complexion looks. Everything is clear, smooth and fresh looking. For me, a glowing, radiant complexion is the most beautiful thing, and I feel that my skin does glow when I use this product. It's gorgeous, and you only need a tiny little bit to cover your whole face.
I won't ramble on about this product for too long, as I've sung its praises many times before in the past, and I've actually already got an entire blog post dedicated solely to it! What I will say is this: the Clarins Lotus Oil is easily my favourite skincare product - perhaps ever. As I said before, I'm not a fan of thick, heavy creams, so oils are my preference when it comes to moisturisers. The only trouble is, face oils can tend to make the skin really oily and greasy. This one doesn't. Instead, it balances the skin, preventing the over-production of sebum, moisturising the skin and radiating the complexion instantly. If I were to forget to use this product and go to bed without applying it, my skin would look and feel so much different in the morning - and not in a good way. I'd be lost without this product - it's my holy grail!

This face spritz from La Roche Posay is a really cool product, with a ton of amazing properties. What I love about the La Roche Posay Serozinc Spray is that it doesn't contain a whole spectrum of chemicals - there are just a few key ingredients that work together to revitalise the skin, freshen everything up and of course, tone. I spray my Serozinc on after my usual toner - which is arguably too much toner, but hey, it works for me - wait a minute or two, and then apply my Clarins Lotus Oil.
La Roche Posay Serozinc spray has become renowned for its blemish fighting properties and for leaving the skin fresh and clear. If you're someone that suffers with excess oil or spots, you'll reap a lot of benefits from this spray. It's a little miracle worker!
I really hope you enjoyed this blog post and I can't wait to share more with you soon.
Lots of love,
Grace x
