HOW TO MAKE YOUR LIPS LOOK BIGGER.

Founder of Kylie Cosmetics and self-confessed lover of all things makeup, Kylie Jenner recently shared details of her 900 million fortune in an issue of Forbes that’s sure to become one of the publications best ever sellers. The beautiful reality star turned makeup mogul turned her passion into a business when she launched her world-famous business line, best known for its “Kylie lip kits”. Kylie is living proof that brains and beauty can indeed be a match made in heaven, and you’d be right in thinking her enviably good looks and work ethic have indeed changed the world.

Kylie is an inspiration to many for so many reasons, but the one thing that really got people talking about Kylie - the youngest of four sisters - is her plumped-up pout.

Though it took her a long time to come clean, Kylie eventually opened up about the insecurities she had always suffered with her naturally much more modest pout, and confessed to having lip fillers. Naturally, the news flooded the internet and almost instantly, lip fillers became the next worldwide cosmetic obsession.

It’s true - Kylie’s lips have made her rich. Well, not just her lips - she had a pretty decent amount of cash to start with, but why is it that so many of us are obsessed with emulating her look?

The thing is, taking inspiration from a celebrity or even a friend that we admire is completely normal. We all want to know what J-Lo does to maintain her youthful and fabulous glow, and if squats really will give us a bum like Khloe Kardashian, you can be sure as hell that we’re going to be squatting at every available opportunity. However, it’s important to remember that the images we eventually see of these famous people we look up to, are often retouched to enhance their appearance and create the illusion of a ‘flawless’ canvas.

Kylie has great lips because she has the money to get lip fillers from no doubt the best cosmetic practitioner in Beverly Hills, but unfortunately, this isn’t the reality for the rest of us, so I thought I’d share with you my top tips on how to get fuller lips without lip fillers.

Of course, if you’ve already had lip fillers or you can afford to pay for this procedure and you’ve taken onboard all the risks involved, I absolutely advocate you doing your own thing, as long as it’s safe and you’ve taken all necessary precautions. But, with that said, I think it’s great to explore alternative ways to get the same look without having to fork our hundreds and potentially feel unhappy and underwhelmed by the results.

For me, creating the illusion of bigger lips and a fuller pout is something that all of us can do - we just need the right products in our makeup bag to do it, so grab yourself a glass of something fabulous and get ready to learn everything you need to know about getting that Kylie pout without spending all your pennies.

1. Buy A Good Lip Liner

I have to admit, I’m a teeny weeny bit Kardashian-Jenner obsessed, and so I often watch interviews, clips and of course episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which is why I know so much about Kylie. In one interview which I watched recently, Kylie talked about when she first discovered her love for makeup and wanted to explore the possibilities with makeup. She described how she went into the makeup store without a clue as to what she needed to get, and just asked one of the sales assistants to help her find a lip liner similar to her natural lip shade that would allow her to make her lips look bigger. Kylie left the store with tons of different shades (something I can relate to) and began to experiment with her purchases.

While Kylie has admitted to relying on fillers to enhance her lips, Kylie was completely right to play around with lip liners first and if you ask me, lip liner is the first and perhaps the most important product you’ll need if you want to make your lips look plumper.

I’d advise doing almost exactly what Kylie did - finding a shade that’s similar to your own lip colour, if not just one or two shades darker, and over-like your lips to make them look bigger. When I talk about over-lining the lips, I don’t mean in a dramatic or obvious way. Just draw outside the shape of your natural lips to make them ever so slightly larger looking. If you draw too obviously, that's exactly how they’ll look - obvious.

If you’re a makeup novice or you’d simply like a little more advice, I’d recommend trying MAC Whirl, MAC Spice and NYX Peekaboo Neutral. These shades are great for creating a fuller look, naturally.

2. Use Lip Gloss

Lip gloss isn’t for everyone and having lived through the horrific ‘sticky gloss’ days during 90’s, I can completely empathise with anyone that has been put off lip gloss for life. However, don’t be too soon to discount this suggestion. Lip gloss has come a long way since those sticky, hair-stuck-to-lips days and now, most good quality lip glosses are soft and shiny but, thankfully, not sticky.

There are tons of great lip glosses out there to choose from, but for those looking to enhance the fullness of their lips, I’d strongly recommend the newly launched Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath. This stuff has been expertly designed by the makeup gurus at Charlotte Tilbury to make lips look bigger and more kissable. It’s amazing.
3. Use Lip Scrub & Lip Balm

And finally, my last top tip would be to use lip scrub and lip balm regularly. Lip scrub will slough away any dead skin cells from the surface of your lips, leaving them plumped up and fresh looking. If your lips are lovely and smooth, your pout will instantly look fuller. Once you've exfoliated your lips with the lip scrub, apply your lip balm straight after (my favourite is the Carmex Cherry Stick Lip Balm) and lock in all that moisture.

If you're unsure as to which lip scrub to buy, I'd strongly recommend heading over to your nearest Lush store. You can read my review of the Sugar Plum Fairy edition by heading over to my blog post 'Plumped Up, Kissable Lips With The Lush Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Scrub.'

I really hope you enjoyed this blog post and I can't wait to share more with you very soon.

Lots of love,
Grace x
