SEPHORA ACAI ANTI POLLUTION FACE MASK.

A pamper night essential and a product that possesses some kind of magical ‘feel good’ power, if you ask me, no woman’s skincare collection is complete without a good old face mask. And when it comes to trying and testing face masks, I’ve got a whole wealth of experience under my belt.

Having a good, solid skincare regime is so important to me. Each and every day I cleanse, tone and moisturise twice - once in the morning and once in the evening. But whilst having a strong daily skincare routine is of course fantastic, it’s essential that we take the time to treat our complexion to something a little more intensive a couple of times a week, too.

And face masks are perfect for this.

Unlike face washes and cleansers, which are rinsed off after around 30-60 seconds, face masks are left on the surface of the skin for anything up to 20 minutes, depending on which you’ve gone for. And masks are designed to do a plethora of different things.

If you have oily/acne prone skin, then you may wish to opt for an exfoliating mask with detoxing properties (charcoal masks and pink clay masks are ideal!) alternatively, if you have dry skin or you simply feel as though your complexion is looking a little lacklustre of late, then a moisturising face mask would probably prove a better option.

As someone with normal/combination skin, I make a conscious effort to steer clear of anything overly drying or that contains lots of harsh ingredients. I like my complexion to look radiant and supple, and so vitamin-rich face masks are my preferred choice.

Now, as most of you will probably already know, my husband Marc and I recently went on holiday across the West Coast of America for our honeymoon - which was amazing, obviously! But all that travelling and of course, the dreaded jet lag on the way home, did leave my skin in need of a little pick-me-up. So, before we caught our flight from Vegas, I decided to pop back into Sephora and treat myself to a face mask.

Sephora retail a selection of brand-own face masks, and as these aren’t available in the UK, I thought it would make sense to give one of them a try. And after much deliberation, I settled on Sephora Açai Anti Pollution Mask.

Expertly developed to help decongest and combat pollutants, I felt that this mask would remedy my tired, jet-lagged skin.

And I have to say, it did a pretty good job.

Priced at just $5.99, this face mask costed only a fragment of some of the alternatives available - but I found that it worked just fine.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing especially groundbreaking about this product and I wouldn’t say there’s anything noteworthy enough to write home about - but it did definitely give my complexion a bit of a lift after all our travelling about.

Which is exactly what I needed it to do.

When it comes to packaging, I think this product is presented really nicely. It doesn’t have a luxurious or expensive feel to it (but why would it? It’s less than $6!) - but it’s definitely pretty enough to have on display in the bathroom!

And the smell is super pretty, too.

The sweet scent of açai adds a lovely touch to this product, and I like that the odour isn’t overwhelming. To me, heavily perfumes products should always be used with caution as it means that there’s probably a whole ton of stuff that you really wouldn’t want to put on your face in there - but this scent is relatively mild.

As for the product itself and how effective I found the formula to be, id say I was happy with the results of the mask, but not particularly blown away. I applied the açai enriched formula to my skin approximately 1 hour before we were due to land back in Manchester, and I was fairly happy with how hydrated and supple my skin felt after removing the mask.

If you’re used to using face masks that dry on the skin or go hard when they’re ready to be taken off, then like me, you may find this mask a little bit unusual. There is no clear indicator as to when this mask is ready to be removed as the consistency and texture of the mask remain the same from start to finish - smooth, velvety and moist. Don’t worry, though, despite this lack of apparent change, the mask is quietly working away the whole time.

If I had to rate this product, I’d probably give it a 6.5/10. It’s a nice, easy-to-use product that feels nice when applied to the skin, but in my personal opinion, there are definitely more effective alternatives out there to choose from.

I really hope you enjoyed this blog post & I can’t wait to share more with you soon!

Lots of love,
Grace x
