I don't know about you, but I just can't get enough of handy makeup hacks.
For those of you that haven’t heard this term before, a beauty hack is basically a trick or tip that can be implemented to enhance the look of your face, body or whatever else. And needless to say, there are hundreds of thousands of amazing hacks out there - some of which I’ve tried and questioned why everyone has raved so much about them, and others that I’ve been completely blown away by and am now itching to share with others.
So, for this blog post, I thought I'd reveal some of the very best makeup hacks that every woman needs to know about.
1. Use White Eyeliner To Make The Eyes Look Bigger
I’ve heard this before many times and it kind of goes without saying that this definitely works. However, it wasn’t until Chloe Morello suggested over-lining the tear duct with this product that I became really excited about its potential.
In her YouTube video, Chloe explained how by using a white eye pencil before any white shadow or glitter really helps widen the eyes and makes them appear so much bigger. And although I understand that she is really well practised and knowledgeable when it comes to makeup, I couldn’t help but be completely mesmerised by the results of this trick.
So, if you’ve been searching for some new, innovative ways to make those gorgeous eyes look bigger and brighter, then this one is a must-try.

2. Use Lip Gloss To Contour The Lips
I don’t know about you, but lip gloss just isn’t something I use on a day-to-day basis. I find that it’s just a little too much to wear for work & if I’m truly honest here, I’ve had annoying strands of hair stick to my lips way too many times before.
I guess you could say I’m not the biggest fan of lip gloss really, but having seen how it can be used to contour the lips and make the lips look bigger, I’m beginning to fall back in love with it.
If you love the fuller-looking pout look & you want your lips to look super kissable (who doesn’t?!) then this little trick may just become your holy grail.
To contour the lips using gloss & create the illusion of a plumper pout, take your lip gloss (a stick style applicator works best) and lightly layer the gloss just beneath your lip liner. Next, dip your applicator back into the gloss and apply another stroke to the centre part of your lips before pressing your lips together and releasing.
This amazing little trick will help really draw attention to your pout and the cleverly-applied gloss will maximise the plumpness of your lips. Gorgeous!
If you're looking for a new lip gloss & you aren't entirely sure as to what to buy, I'd recommend trying the e.l.f Lip Plumping Gloss or the Winky Lux Lip Glaze in the 'Coffee' shade. Both of these glosses are available to buy from Feel Unique.

3. Use Banana Powder To Strengthen Your Contour
Although I have a pot of pressed banana powder, I don’t use it all that much and I suppose until now, I haven’t been entirely sure as to how to use it properly.
The truth is, there are many different thing you can do with banana powder. But, for maximum impact, this product should be used to help strengthen & define your contour.
I personally don't like to over-contour my face as I prefer a more natural and less sculpted finish, however, by taking a dry beauty blender (or any other makeup blending sponge) and swiping the banana powder under those darker contour areas, you can really illuminate the skin & create a more 'snatched' look.
4. Use Eyeliner To Thicken The Look Of Your Lashes
Having worn more than 'a bit too much' eyeliner back in my teens, I'm now very, very wary of how much eyeliner I use. In fact, most of the time, I prefer to go completely liner free. As a product, eyeliner scares me, and the thought of potentially overdoing it petrifies me.
However, I recently learned a very simple little eyeliner hack and since then, I've been whipping my NYX Eyeliner out every morning - which I haven't done since I was about 15 years old!
This eyeliner trick, albeit a very simple makeup hack, is honestly absolutely amazing, and has the potential to truly maximise your finished look.
First and foremost with this one, your liner must be a pencil eyeliner - liquid eyeliners and pens just won't work. If you don't already have a pencil eyeliner, I recommend trying out the NYX Professional Makeup Slide On Pencil in Black - it's super affordable and works great.
Once you've got your eyeliner handy, hold the pencil as closely as you can to the nib, lift your eyelid up slightly and line in-between your lashes. By doing this, you are essentially filling in those very tiny gaps in between each of your lashes to create a fuller look and further define those gorgeous eyes.
5. Go One Or Two Shades Lighter With Your Under-Eye Concealer
Another simple trick - but one that so many people still don't know about, or perhaps understand the worth of - using a lighter under-eye concealer can make the difference between a good makeup look, and an incredible one.
Because of my tan, I find that yellow based foundations and tinted moisturisers work best against my complexion. However, I never wear the same colour under my eyes as I do on the rest of my face. Why? Because by using a fairer shade under the eyes, I find that my makeup is instantly illuminated and my entire complexion just looks fresher & more youthful.
I don't suffer with dark circles, really, but I do find that when I haven't had enough sleep, or I've had a particularly long day, my eyes don't always look quite as bright as I'd like them too. But, by adopting this little makeup hack, I can disguise any signs of tiredness easily, all whilst drawing attention to the eyes & making them look bigger.
If you're currently on the hunt for a new concealer or you'd simply like to try something different, I strongly recommend the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer & e.l.f HD Lifting Concealer (which is currently just £3.80 on Feel Unique - what a steal!)

6. Over-line Your Lips For a Fuller Pout
Getting lip fillers is no longer a big deal. In fact, women are heading out for a cheeky dermal filler top-up in the same way they would an infill for their acrylic nails. And you know what? Each to their own!
Personally, the thought of getting lip fillers absolutely terrifies me, so for a more glamorous look, I rely on makeup. Over-lining the lips with lip liner is such an easy and simple trick, and yet it’s so effective! To tie things together, simply fill in the remainder of the lips with your favourite lipstick and you’re good to go.
7. Darken Your Foundation With A Liquid Bronzer
Our skin tone naturally changes throughout the year. The likes of holidays to hot countries and beautiful summers cause our skin to deepen in tone, meanwhile during the winter, our skin tends to look fairer.
But you needn’t buy a different foundation if you don’t want to.
Instead of stocking up on foundations, why not invest in a liquid bronzer instead? Depending on how tanned your are, you may wish to mix one pump or two pumps of bronzer in with your usual makeup base. My favourite liquid bronzer is the NARS Laguna. I also really like the Benefit Dew The Hoola.
8. Blot Your Lipstick With Tissue To Make It Last Longer
Mac lipsticks in particular are a massive weakness of mine, but as someone who prefers glossy textures as opposed to matte lipsticks, I often find that my lippie doesn’t stay on as long as I’d like it to. In fact, I usually have to reapply maybe once or twice every couple of hours - not ideal.
The good news is, there are clever ways to make your lipstick last longer - and one of the best requires nothing but a little bit of tissue paper!
To make your lipstick stay on longer. Apply your lip liner and lipstick as normal, before placing a piece of tissue paper between your lips and blotting. Then, reapply both products again for a longer-lasting finish. Easy!
9. Always Use A Setting Spray
Be it a matte setting spray or a dewy setting spray, whatever you do, don’t underestimate the power of a few spritzes!
Pretty much every luxury beauty brand and high street beauty brand alike now offer a setting spray as part of their range, and it’s no wonder they’re growing in popularity so quickly. Why? Because they’re amazing!
A good setting spray will prevent your makeup from smudging or melting away, all whilst giving your makeup a fabulously flawless finish. Winner!
10. Use A Dark Eye Shadow Instead Of Eyeliner
Eyeliner is a wonderful product, but unless you’re an expert at applying it (I’m certainly not!) it can be incredibly difficult to achieve a soft, more natural-looking finish.
To avoid that obvious ‘drawn-on’ look, try using a dark-coloured eye shadow instead, using a fine eye shadow brush to apply. Try to get the eye shadow as close as possible to your lash line for a fuller-looking set of lashes, and use an eye shadow blending brush to finish things off.
I really hope you all enjoyed this post, and as always, I can't wait to share more with you all very soon.
Lots of love,

That lip gloss trick is really interesting! I really only use lip gloss when I want a fuss free lip on a night out - it's so easy to get right. I didn't think of using it to contour! Really interesting.
