HOW TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES DURING THE PANDEMIC - SADDLEWORTH BUSINESSES THAT YOU CAN HELP.

During these challenging and uncertain times that we find ourselves in, it has never been more important to shop local and support our local businesses. Already, many small businesses have been forced to close due to lack of custom, and with the unlikely return of normality any time before spring, now more than ever we must do whatever we can to help prevent further closures.

Salons, coffee shops, restaurants and non-essential shops have taken a seriously hit over the last 12 months. And as someone who loves to support my local businesses, I felt it was about time I shared a blog post to applaud the resilient business owners and staff members that continue to to battle against the challenges facing them.

So, below I have drawn together a list of some of my most loved businesses in Saddleworth, together with information about what they do, the services they offer and how you can show your support during lockdown.

I for one can’t wait to have my lashes and brows seen to once this is all over - and you can guarantee I’ll be the first in line when those coffee shops reopen! But until then, I’ll be grabbing caramel latte’s on the go, buying delicious take-out food from my favourite local restaurants, and giving myself a little at-home pamper using the kits and products sold by my favourite beauty salons.

Anyway, without any further ado...

Beauty salons

The Beauty Room by Steph

A well-known face around Saddleworth, beauty queen Steph specialises in keeping local residents looking fresh & fabulous from top to toe.

Offering services such as LVL lashes, brow tint and shape, gel nails and more, Steph’s glamorous little salon sits at the back of the Bespoke Hair Lounge in Springhead. And the beautiful decor poses the perfect place for a little preen and a pamper.

Sadly, like many others, Steph isn’t able to perform beauty treatments on others right now. However, she is retailing a selection of Jessica Nail Care products for the time being, to help ensure all clients nails remain healthy & pretty. And as always, you can continue to purchase gift cards from Steph, too. So, if you’re missing your usual pamper session, you’ll be pleased to hear you can still indulge in a little TLC at home, as well as giving someone you love something to look forward to as soon as things are back to normal.

For those on social media, be sure to follow The Beauty Room by Steph Instagram here.

The Nail Lounge Greenfield

Scona Cafe's glamorous next door neighbour, The Nail Lounge, is Greenfield’s go-to retreat for brow, lash and nail transformations. And owner, Ruth and the lovely ladies at the salon promise a relaxing and enjoyable experience every time.

The Nail Lounge offers a range of second-to-none beauty services, such as brow lamination, acrylic nails, LVL lashes and more. But with the country currently in lockdown, sadly these treatments will have to wait a tiny bit longer.

But don’t worry - in the meantime, The Nail Lounge is offering a variety of at-home kits to keep you preened and pampered whilst you stay at home. Follow The Nail Lounge Greenfield on Instagram and be sure to stock up on your goodies today.

Coffee Shops

Kobe Coffee

Nestled right in the heart of Uppermill, Kobe Coffee - which opened in December 2019 - has fast become a firm favourite with locals, and for good reason.

Offering a selection of hot and cold beverages alike, Kobe Coffee also has a choice of delicious food and snacks available to take out, too.

Keeping customers safe (and fuelled by great coffee) as the utmost priority, Kobe Coffee has a takeaway hatch that allows customers to buy food and drink without entertering the shop at all.

Keen to support Kobe during the pandemic? Be sure to grab a coffee to go when you’re next in Uppermill, and be sure to share a photo on Instagram (and don't forget to tag Kobe Coffee's Instagram page, of course.) You may also wish to invest in One of the various pieces of merchandise Kobe coffee retails, too. Caps, reusable coffee cups and more can be purchased from the takeaway hatch.

Weaver & Wilde

Another hotspot for mouth-wateringly good coffee and food is the charming Weaver & Wilde, also located on Uppermill’s lively high street.

Service with a smile is a guarantee at this place, and dogs are just as - if not more welcome - than people!

The sandwiches here are a particular favourite of mine, but the cake offering is always fantastic, too. From brownies to zingy lemon drizzle cakes, you’re bound to find a sweet treat that tickles your fancy at Weaver & Wilde.
