MAKEUP REVOLUTION BEAM DREAM PRIMER REVIEW.

Gorgeous, glowy skin is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful things ever. I love feeling confident about my complexion and knowing that my skin looks super radiant.

And that’s why (as well as taking great care of my skin), I always use radiance-enhancing makeup products.

From my foundation to my setting spray, I like the products I use to give me that enviable ‘lit from within’ that I absolutely love. And of course, when it comes to makeup primer - the base of any great makeup look - a little bit of shimmer is essential.

As with all makeup products, the texture and appearance of the primer we use is very personal to us and the way that we like our makeup to look. For some, mattifying makeup primers are the only way to go. Meanwhile for others (such as myself), glowy, dewy and light-reflecting are the three most important adjectives.

Which is why I decided to invest in the Makeup Revolution GLOW Beam Dream Illuminating Primer

Presented in a luxe rose gold tube, this product certainly gets my vote for the prettiest packaging award - it’s just beautiful! But of course, that isn’t the most important factor to consider when investing in a new product...

So, does the formula itself get my seal of approval?

For the most part, yes it does.

One of my ultimate favourite things about this radiance boosting makeup primer is it’s fruity fragrance. The only way I can possibly describe the way this affordable makeup primer smells is like a fruity holiday cocktail. It literally smells just like a freshly-made pina colada, so if you love nothing more than a bit of pineapple and coconut, then fragrance-wise, this little beauty is bound to get a big thumbs up.

And moving on from fragrance to formula, let’s get down to the real nitty gritty - the actual quality of the product and how it looks when applied to the skin.

As I said before, I love to use primers that have a little bit of a shimmer to them. Some of the premium makeup primers I have used before and absolutely love include the MAC Strobe Cream and Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow. Both are completely amazing. But, as the price point of both of these products sits on the higher end of the spectrum, I think it’s important to explore more affordable alternatives. Which is one of the many things that attracted me to this product in the first place.

Now, this isn’t a comparison post, so I don’t want to directly compare this product with others I have tried in the past. However, what I will say on this occasion is that although I like the product, there are others that I have used previously and preferred.

I love the fact that this primer has a proper shimmer to it, and the actual consistency and texture of the primer is lovely, too. It’s just nice and creamy - not runny and not too thick either. Unfortunately, for me personally, it’s just not the best makeup primer that I've ever used.

To be honest, I don’t actually need my makeup to look perfect all day every day at the moment because I usually only wear it for a couple of hours at best anyway. However, under more normal circumstances when I might be out for the full day shopping or whatever, I would want a primer with great staying power. I’d also prefer something with a less colourful shimmer to it.

As I said before, this primer has a lovely pearly glow to it, but I’m just not entirely sold on the pinky, multi-tonal colour of the product. Personally I prefer a more neutral base and that’s normally what I would steer towards. That being said, once foundation is applied, this disappears anyway, so it isn’t the end of the world - it’s just not my preference.

I feel like I’ve gone off on a bit of a negative tangent here, which isn’t what I’m trying to do at all. I do actually like this product, but as there are others that are better suited to me, I probably wouldn’t buy it again unless my first choice wasn’t in stock. Having said that, I do think that this makeup primer is super great value for money & a really great alternative to the more luxury makeup primers on the market.

I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post & I can't wait to share more with you all very soon.

Lots of love,
Grace x
