WHAT DOES VITAMIN C DO FOR THE SKIN? - 8 REASONS TO INVEST IN VITAMIN C SKINCARE PRODUCTS.

When it comes to skincare, Vitamin C is well renowned for being one of the very best skin-loving ingredients available.

What many of us don’t fully understand is exactly why Vitamin C is so good for the skin. So, for this blog post, I thought I’d do a round-up of all the reasons you should be using skincare products containing Vitamin C and the various benefits of Vitamin C for the skin.

So, without any further ado, let’s talk about why Vitamin C is so good for the skin, and the best Vitamin C skincare products you need to add to your skincare routine.

1. It Promotes Collagen Production

Fine lines and wrinkles, be gone! One of the biggest and best benefits of using Vitamin C skincare is the fact that it encourages collagen promotion. So, if you’re longing for an ever-lasting youthful glow and skin that appears completely ageless, vitamin c is the answer to all of your prayers.

Vitamin C has been scientifically proven to thicken the dermis and help diminish wrinkles and fine lines, all whilst promoting a generally firmer and fresher-looking visage. What’s not to love?

2. It's A Natural Antioxidant

It’s no secret that antioxidants are great for our body, but what many don’t realise is the powerful properties antioxidants pose for our skin, too.

Vitamin C is packed full of antioxidants, which in turn protects the skin cells from UV exposure and a variety of other skin irritants.

3. It Gently Exfoliates The Skin

Sloughing away those dead skin cells is always super satisfying, but face scrubs can sometimes be a little too rough and abrasive.

Fortunately, vitamin c contains natural exfoliating properties, reducing the need to scrub away at the skin quite so often. Winner!

4. It Hydrates The Skin

As well as exfoliating the skin, vitamin c is also incredibly hydrating, too. So, if your complexion is in need of a little extra moisture, it’s time to whip out the vitamin c serum.

This fabulous ingredient really is a complete all-rounder. There’s no skin complaint it doesn’t combat.

5. It's Suitable For Most Skin Types

Some skincare ingredients - particularly acids - can prove unsuitable for certain skin types.

Unlike these ingredients, vitamin c is suitable for virtually all skin types. The only advice I would offer in this regard would be for more sensitive skin types to use vitamin c products with a lower percentage of concentration (8% or so should be enough - anything higher may prove slightly irritating.)

6. It Reduces The Appearance Of Dark Circles

Dark circles are the tell-tale signs of exhaustion, dehydration and a number of other things (including ageing skin.) And if you’re suffer from those dark rings, you’ll know just how hard they are to get rid of.

The good news is that vitamin c is crammed full of skin-loving goodness that effectively combats the appearance of dark circles, lightening the skin and creating a brighter-looking under-eye area. So, if you’ve been wondering how to get rid of dark circles for good, then this is the answer you’ve been looking for.

7. It Soothes Sunburn

Taking care of the skin, particularly when exposed to the sun, is vital. Unfortunately, at some point or another, we’ve all suffered from a little bit of sunburn - sometimes it just happens - and it can be incredibly uncomfortable.

Fortunately, skincare products containing Vitamin C are incredibly soothing when applied to sunburnt skin. What’s more, as well as making the skin feel better, vitamin c also helps encourage the repairing of this damaged skin.

8. It’s Affordable

Some skincare ingredients are incredibly costly, but on the whole, Vitamin C skincare products are fairly inexpensive. Which considering the vast range of skin benefits, is pretty darn fabulous.

I’m a huge fan of the Revolution Skincare 12.5% Vitamin C Serum and I love the Murad Rapid Resurfacing Peel Pads, too. Another great skincare product containing Vitamin C is the Boots Vitamin C Brightening Eye Gel, which costs just £4.

And there you have it - 8 reasons why you need to invest in Vitamin C skincare saviours!

I really hope you all enjoyed this post & can't wait to share more with you very soon.

Lots of love,
Grace
