HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR SKINCARE REGIME - 6 TOP TIPS FOR A BETTER SKINCARE ROUTINE.

Beauty is where it all began for me when it comes to blogging. Every since I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with skincare. Even at the age of 12 or 13 - when, might I add, my skin really was flawless! I never had so much as a pimple until well into my 20’s! - I used to love doing little facials for myself and my parents and at Christmas time, I would always ask for new skincare bits. Looking back, I’m not sure what, if anything, those products were doing for my skin as it was genuinely so good already, but I loved that feeling of pampering myself.

Now, in my 30th year, I have an even greater appreciation for beauty products - and not just because of the way they make me look, but mostly because of how they make me feel. I love to feel pampered and a pretty collection of beauty products really does bring me so much contentment.

I’m always on the lookout for and listening our for new and existing beauty products to try as I love to switch up my beauty regime every now and again. I want to make sure I am doing the best for my skin and that my makeup is working for me - and of course, being able to share those tips, tricks and product recommendations with you all is such a privilege. So, for this blog post I thought I’d do exactly that,

Recently, I’ve been focusing a lot on adjusting my beauty regimen so that I am reaping the most benefits possible from the products I am using - introducing an LED mask has been a huge game changer for me and performing regular facial massages with my rose quartz roller has been hugely beneficial too. Here are some of the products and techniques I recommend…

1. Invest in an LED face mask

I was kindly gifted the Facelift LED mask, which I am honestly so grateful for because, quite frankly, it’s absolutely amazing! Designed to target acne, pores, fine lines and hyperpigmentation, this LED mask is a real multitasker and the most incredible addition to my skincare routine.

I’m on holiday at the moment, and I chose not to bring my mask because I was so nervous of losing it, and I I’m really missing using it! It feels like my skincare routine just isn’t complete without it! I use my led mask immediately after cleansing so that I can continue my routine with my toner and serums afterwards. I find that this order works perfectly for me.

2. Get a facial roller

I picked up a rose quartz facial roller in Aldi a few months ago and it’s honestly one of the best bargains I’ve ever bagged. I think I paid about £6 or £7 for mine, which is a really good price - but there are plenty of other retailers doing similarly priced products. This one from Revolution Beauty is £15, and their stuff is brilliant, so I've no doubt this little beauty will prove a fabulous addition to your collection.

When used correctly Rose quartz rollers are great for encouraging collagen production and allowing products to work their way deeper into the pores. So if you haven’t already, now is definitely the time to get your hands on one.

3. Use a facial peel

My skin peel from The Ordinary is one of those skincare products that I don’t know how I coped without before. It really does revitalise the skin, stripping back that first layer of epidermis to reveal a brighter, clearer and younger looking complexion. This product is so affordable, too, so investing is, in my opinion, a complete no-brainer.

Of course, the one thing I would say when it comes to face peels is that they should be used carefully and sparingly. If you know that you have particularly sensitive skin, or your skin is quite dry or flaky, a peel might prove too aggressive for your skin. In any case, facial peels should be used at most twice per week, so be sure to never apply any more frequently than that.

4. Stock up on the AHAs and BHAs

We’re hearing a lot about alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids at the moment and that’s because they're amazing for our skin. As well as boasting valuable anti-aging properties, these acids - which can be found in lots of skincare products, these days - are also great for reducing inflammation and acne and encouraging new cell turnover. So, whether your skin concerns are age related or you suffer with breakouts, acids are officially your new best friend.

5. Invest in retinol

I honestly don’t know what I would do without my retinol. I’m currently using The Orindary Granactive Retinoid in Squalane, which is fabulous - and not too harsh on the purse strings, either.

Retinol is perhaps the ultimate must-have ingredient when it comes to reversing those tell-tale signs of aging. It’s a powerful product that really packs a punch, especially if you opt for one with a higher percentage of retinol. My advice would be to start lower and work your way up to something higher. Diving in at the deep end could cause your skin to react adversely, so it’s best to keep things mild in the first instance.

6. Spend longer on your skincare routine

Sometimes we rush through our skincare - and I include myself in this. We are busy and we often have no option but to speed through everything, which is fine - but if you do have a little spare time, try to dedicate longer to really working those products into your skin. I recommend leaving products on for a couple of extra minutes. Be it your cleanser, your scrub or your sheet mask, allowing the products to sit on the surface of the skin for that little while longer allows them to work that little bit harder.

I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.

Lots of love,

Grace x
