Our bodies serve a purpose every single day, but Until I got pregnant actually started to show, I don’t think I completely appreciated how incredible our bodies really are. We are quite simply amazing!
But of course, whilst pregnancy is an undeniable blessing in every single way, and whilst we learn to respect our bodies wholly during this time, coming to terms with the way in which our body has changed, or is changing, isn’t always easy.
I don’t know how the other pregnant women reading this post feel about their baby bumps and pregnant bellies, but personally, I love mine. I just love knowing that our little baby boy is in there and he’s safe and that I’m looking after him. However, whilst I am indeed proud of my bump, I do find dressing to accommodate my bump, and just getting ready in general a lot trickier these days. I don’t hate my body - I’m in awe of my body - but I guess I just don’t feel quite as glamorous or sexy anymore.
Which, let’s face it, is to be expected when 6 months pregnant. But as a massive advocate for body positivity and self-care/self love in general, I can’t help but feel it’s just so important to talk about how we look when we’re pregnant. We deserve to look beautiful and to feel sexy, so why shouldn’t we?
For this blog post, I want to talk about how to look good during pregnancy and how to feel sexy whilst pregnant. Loving our bodies and feeling great about how we look during pregnancy is invaluable, so I hope you find these tips useful and that you enjoy this blog post.
1. Drink lots of water
Drinking plenty of water is vital to our health and well-being - and even more so when we are pregnant. Its absolutely essential that we stay well-hydrated at all times when we are pregnant. And guess what? Chugging all that extra H20 will 100% help keep you looking fresh and fabulous throughout your pregnancy journey. So, if you want radiant, youthful-looking skin and to glow with confidence whilst carrying your little one, then you know what to do.

Drinking lots of water is important all the time, but especially during pregnancy |
2. Get plenty of exercise
Exercising regularly and consistently is vital if you want to look and feel your best whilst pregnant - and this is something that I really am swearing by right now.
I am embracing the natural changes that my body is going through whilst I am pregnant, of course - but I don’t want to gain weight unnecessarily. Instead, I want to continue living a healthy lifestyle and to put on weight gradually.
At the moment, I am averaging around 11,000 steps a day, which is great for both my mental and my physical wellbeing alike (plus I’m getting lots of quality time with our dog, which is always a bonus.)
In staying active, my body is still super toned & I’m still really confident with my body shape. The only major change to my physique is literally my baby bump.
Just as a quick disclaimer and to ensure nobody gets the wrong idea with this - of course I appreciate that all of our bodies are built differently and absolutely, some people gain more weight than others during pregnancy. All I am saying here is that by staying active, you can maintain tone and definition all whilst looking after your mind, body and soul.

3. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet
I’m so passionate about healthy eating, and while I’ll happily admit that I can’t say no to chocolate buttons, 99% of the time, I eat a very healthy, well-balanced diet.
And I feel that this aspect of my lifestyle has contributed massively to how I am looking and feeling during my pregnancy.
As I mentioned previously, I am really happy with how toned I am feeling right now, which is great. But on top of that, I also feel as though my skin is glowing, my hair is looking super healthy and in spite of the aches, pains, twinges and cramps I’m suffering from, I do feel as though I have that pregnancy ‘glow’ going on. And I completely attribute this to my diet.
One of the most valuable pieces of advice I would give to any pregnant woman would be to eat tons of fruit and vegetables and to keep things as fresh as possible. I’m constantly snacking on grapes, strawberries, pineapple, melon and kiwi, and I always ensure that my meals are loaded with greens.

A healthy, well-balanced diet is crucial during pregnancy. I always eat super healthy, well-balanced meals and then when I feel like having a naughty treat, I can do so without feeling guilty! |
4. Indulge in frequent pamper sessions
Oh what would I do without a good old pamper session a couple of nights per week? - and this is on top of my regular morning routine and evening routine, might I add! I don’t know about you, but a long soak in the bath, a face scrub and a face mask always leaves me looking and feeling so much fresher, so this me-time is especially important to me now that I am pregnant.
If your skin is looking a little lackluster at the minute or you you feel that your self care routine has taken a hit since falling pregnant, then now is absolutely the time to pull it back around. Get yourself online, order some new beauty essentials and get ready to glow.
A few of my favourite pamper products at the moment include the L’Oreal Pure Clay Bright Mask, Kerastase Resistance Masque and Laura Mercier Creme Brûlée Honey Bath. All of these beauty products can be ordered via the Feel Unique website, which is where I go to for most of my makeup, skincare and body care essentials.

My me-time is so much more precious and valuable to me these days. A long soak in the bath leaves me feeling refreshed & rejeuvenated, which I really need! |
5. Wear makeup
Tired-looking skin? In need of an instant confidence-boost? Don’t get down on yourself, just put a bit or makeup on!
Even if I’m just going for a dog walk, I always make the effort to smooth on a bit of tinted moisturiser (I love the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser) and some mascara (I’m still obsessed with the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara) - because like most other women, makeup makes me feel great about myself.
Oh I do love my makeup! And it's definitely giving me an extra little confidence-boost on those days when the pregnancy exhaustion hits me hard |
6. Update with your style
Previous to getting pregnant, my wardrobe consisted of fitted high neck tops and super skinny jeans - both of which don’t serve a purpose for me right now. This has meant addressing my style and updating it to suit my pregnant body.
As we are currently in lock-down, I don’t feel an immense sense of pressure to dress like a bonafide style icon right now, so I’m not investing too much time or money into my wardrobe. However, I have stocked up on the likes of oversized t-shirts, leggings, summer dresses and chic blazers. One of the great things about being pregnant during spring and summer is that I can wear lots of lovely lightweight garments that give me plenty of room to breathe.

Investing in some new pregnancy wardrobe staples has really helped in making me feel confident and sexy |
7. Treat yourself to some new underwear
Feeling sexy and new lingerie fall together hand-in-hand. So, if it’s sex appeal that you’re feeling is in short supply right now, then get on the Boux Avenue website and bag yourself some lovely new bras and knickers.
Im just coming up to week 25 of my pregnancy and I am yet to buy any maternity lingerie, but I am absolutely loving all the beautiful styles on the Delilah Ruby website, so perhaps now is the time for me to invest. For those that don’t know this brand already, Delilah Ruby was launched by Helen Flanagan and specialises is beautiful, sexy lingerie for pregnant women.

8. Invest in some stylish loungewear
And finally, let’s talk loungewear - Because let’s face it, every child-bearing woman needs a selection of pretty loungewear staples to keep her feeling comfy and looking cute during pregnancy.
My bump didn’t ‘pop out’ so to speak until I was about five and a half months pregnant, so I still haven’t bought any pregnancy loungewear - I’ve just been wearing bits and pieces I bought from Zara pre-pregnancy. However, I’ve found that Tilbea have the most incredible range of nursing clothes and maternity clothes - everything looks so comfortable and stylish, so this brand is definitely worth checking out.
A couple more of the best shops for maternity clothes include Topshop, GAP and Isabella Oliver.
I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post and that you’re having a healthy and happy pregnancy. Also, if there are any other pregnancy blog posts you’d like me to share on here, or you have a pregnancy-related question you’d like to ask me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Until next time, lovelies.
Lots of love,
Grace x
