WHAT TO WEAR THIS AUTUMN/WINTER SEASON: AW20 FASHION MUST-HAVES.

I don’t share many fashion posts and that is simply because I don't really consider myself the most fashionable person in the world. I don’t follow trends so much - I just have my own style, really. Don’t get me wrong, I love buying clothes and I am always on the ZARA app adding things to my basket, but I’m not particularly experimental with fashion and I prefer to wear the styles that suit my shape as opposed to things that are 'on-trend.'

On a day-to-day basis, you can expect me to wear a nice high-neck jumper or top, a pair of skinny jeans, some heeled boots and a cute coat or jacket. I just find that this look really suits my figure and sometimes I think it’s good to stick to what you know - I guess you get more for your money that way and you just feel more confident.

With that said, I have to admit that I really do love autumn/winter fashion. I know that everybody says it, but it’s just SO true - autumn/winter fashion is the best. I find it so much easier to dress during the latter part of the year and I love all the gorgeous checks, tartan and dog tooth prints that emerge at this time. I also adore all the big cuddly teddy coats, fur jackets aviator jackets etc that start to appear in all the shop windows. Swoon, swoon, swoon.

So, with this in mind, I thought I’d share my first fashion blog post in god knows how long and talk about all my favourite must-have autumn/winter style staples for 2020. From faux leather trousers and tartan leggings to chunky boots and houndstooth print coats, here you’ll find everything you need to know about all things AW20 fashion. I hope you enjoy!

Autumn/Winter 2020 Fashion Must-Haves

Coats and jackets

Houndstooth blazer

in fact, anything houndstooth is deserving of a big thumbs up right now. Be it a houndstooth coat or a houndstooth jumper, this autumn/winter trend is a wardrobe essential this season.

Camel coat

woman’s wardrobe is complete without a ladies camel coat. Period. If you don’t have one, get one.

Aviator jacket

Flight jackets are the epitome of cool, and of course, they’re making a major comeback this season. From classic black aviator jackets and leather aviator jackets to brown aviator jackets and suede aviator jackets, one things for sure - the aviator coat trend is flying high right now.

Faux fur coat

Faux fur coats are my ultimate autumn winter fashion weakness, so you can only imagine my delight at all the gorgeous faux fur jackets that are beginning to fill up the shops. Black faux fur coats, white faux fur coats, red faux fur coats, brown faux fur coats... I want them all.

Teddy coat

And last but by no means least, let’s talk teddy bear coats. Teddy jackets are cute, comfy and so on-trend this autumn/winter. What more can I say? I’m obsessed.

Knitwear

Chunky cardigans

Oh I do love a chunky cardigan, and there are some absolutely gorgeous ladies cardigans knocking about at the moment. I bought a lovely women’s alpaca cardigan recently from Zara and it’s giving me all the autumn/winter fashion feels. I'm also loving all the longline chunky cardigans and oversized chunky cardigans that are cropping up at the moment/

High neck jumpers

Roll neck jumpers are a fashion staple that I’ll never be able to get enough of, and so seeing all the new pieces that are making a debut this season is giving me major love heart eyes emoji feels. High neck jumpers = yes from me.

Button detail jumpers

Country chic fashion is so up my street - Holland Cooper, anyone? I am literally living for their stunning button detail jumpers - they are just divine. I can’t wait to stock up!

Jeans, trousers and leggings

Faux leather trousers

Leather look trousers and faux leather leggings are key pieces this season and there are tons of fabulous styles on the high street available to choose from. Im keen to get my hands on some tan leather look leggings and some brown faux leather trousers.

Tartan trousers

Tartan is really speaking to me right now, which is a good job really as it’s quite literally everywhere. Yep - tartan is big this season and tartan trousers & leggings are particularly important pieces this autumn/winter.

Black jeans

I’m particular, ripped black jeans - but whatever you go for, black denim is a vibe this season. I love Levi's black jeans the best as they’re just effortlessly cool and perfect for helping create that low-key, off-duty chic vibe.

Footwear

Chunky boots

Chunky boots will earn you big brownie points in the style stakes this autumn/winter season - and there are tons of pairs to pick from. Think chunky platform boots, chunky lace-up boots, chunky suede boots... the list goes on. Take note & get ready to stomp.

Platform trainers

I actually like being petite, but I do love the extra height a pair of heels gives me. The only issue with geeks is that they aren’t especially practical on a day to day basis - particularly when your days involve long dog walls and pushing a pram up and down hills. The solution? Platform trainers.

There’s something super stylish about platform trainers. They’re edgy, cool and go with just about everything. I’m particularly loving all the Kurt Geiger platform trainers right now. Platform Converse & platform Vans are also getting my seal of approval. Tick, tick, tick.

Leopard print shoes

Take a walk on the wild side this season by stepping out in a pair of leopard print flats, leopard print boots or leopard print heels. Whichever you choose, you’re sure to look fierce.

Patent boots

Practical yet pretty, patent boots pose the perfect finishing touch to all your autumn/winter outfits. I love the shine of patent boots - the fact that they clean up so easily is just a bonus. I'm particularly loving the patent Doc Martens right now, so I think I'm going to treat myself to a pair of those very soon.

Like I said earlier, I don't share tons of fashion posts on my blog, but I actually really enjoyed putting this together, so I hope you loved it, too!

Until next time, lovelies!

Lots of love,
Grace x

  1. Everything about the jacket seemed fine. Quality leather, fit, color etc.The style is classic, yet modern, timeless, casual and very cool. High quality and very well crafted/constructed. Designer jackets
