THE BEST PRE-HOLIDAY BEAUTY CHECKLIST.

Travel restrictions are easing and while there are still lots of precautions/special measures in place to ensure everyone stays safe, things are beginning to feel a little more normal again.

And for many of us - myself included - one thing that’s really exciting is the prospect of travelling abroad again.

My husband Marc and I love our holidays, and albeit a luxury to be able to do so, I think I speak for us all when I say that we need a break and a change of scenery.

And - lucky for us, we’ll be getting that change of scenery very, very soon - which makes me so happy!

For us, a 7-day vaycay in Greece is fast approaching and in between daydreaming about playing in the pool with Eric and the odd morning Mimosa, I’ve been planning my pre holiday beauty treatments.

I love getting myself all holiday-ready, so for this blog post, I thought I’d share what beauty treatments to get before going on holiday. I hope you enjoy!

Must-Have Pre-Holiday Beauty Treatments

1. Eyelash tinting

I’m not a fan of waterproof mascara, but I still want to look glam when I’m sunning it up by the pool, so ahead of any beach holiday, I always make sure my eyelashes are freshly tinted.

Sometimes, I’ll go to the salon for this treatment, but during lockdown, I’ve been doing my eyelash tinting at home. I use the Mylee Brow & Lash Tint (available from Feelunique), and it’s great.

2. Eyebrow shape & tint

Another thing that I like to ensure is on-point ahead of travelling is my eyebrows.

I love that fresh-brow feeling and on holiday especially, having freshly-tinted and shaped eyebrows really does make such a difference.

With fresh lashes and brows, there is hardly any need for makeup at all during the day - you can just wake up, put your sun cream on and head down to the beach. Bliss!

3. Bikini wax

Nobody ever claimed that getting a Hollywood wax was a barrel of laughs - and that's because it really, really isn't. But, is it worth it? Heck yes.

If I'm getting my nether regions waxed, for me, it's all or nothing, so I opt for the Hollywood - which is everything gone.

I actually went with one of my best friends when she got her first Hollywood wax and she genuinely cried and the beauty therapist had to stop. So, if you've got a low pain threshold, then this maybe isn't the treatment for you. If you can handle it, though, the baby-soft results are definitely worth the 15 minutes of eye-watering!

4. Gel nails

Choosing the perfect gel nail colour is always fun - mindbendingly difficult, yes - but always fun.

And it’s even more exciting when selecting the perfect holiday nail colour.

I like to have a little browse on Pinterest and Instagram for some nailspo before diving in and choosing my holiday nail colour- but no matter what, I always use candy coat gel polishes.

For Portugal, I’ve opted for a gorgeous Pearl shimmer copper shade from my favourite gel nail brand (and in my opinion the best gel nail brand) Candy Coat. I can’t wait to rock this colour with a tan!

5. Spray tan (or fake tan at home)

And on the subject of tanning, I thought I’d touch on my pre holiday tanning routine.

As many of you will already know, I’m all about caring for my skin, which means Factor 50 all over and avoiding sun damage at all costs.

Instead of lounging in the scorching hot sun for hours hoping to go a shade or two darker, I use fake tan.

I love St Tropez fake tan the best, and before holiday, I like to apply a combination of my St Tropez Express Gel and my St Tropez Purity Mist

The St Tropez Purity collection is fab for taking away with you, too, as the clear formula develops throughout the day into the most gorgeous natural-looking tan.

6. Pedicure

I’m on my feet a lot, and so before holiday in particular, I like to treat my tootsies to a proper pedicure.

A rub, a scrub and a lather in lotion works wonders - add some gel polish and a touch of nail oil and the jobs a good’un. Simples.

7. Hair cut

I don’t know about you, but I just don’t feel holiday-ready until I’ve been to see my hairdresser, Angie.

As my hair is super long, I like to get a good inch and a half cut off before I head off on vacation (this is a must for me, as it makes combing through my hair so much easier, especially after being in the pool!)

8. Facial

And finally, before jetting off, I always love to indulge in a good old facial.

Having fresh, clear, radiant skin is such a wonderful feeling, and a great facial helps ensure the complexion is looking its best.

I recently shared a blog post all about doing facials at home. So, if you're looking to save a little bit of money or you're simply curious as to how you can get those salon-quality results in the comfort of your own home, then be sure to check out my blog post 'How To Do A Facial At Home.'

I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post & I can't wait to share more with you all very, very soon.

Lots of love,

Grace x
