THE BEST MAKEUP ROUTINE FOR BUSY MUMS - QUICK MAKEUP TIPS FOR MUMS.

I’ve always liked to keep myself busy - that's just the way I am. It's part of my DNA. But until I became a mum, I don’t think I ever fully appreciated what the term 'busy' actually means. Because boy oh boy, being a baby mama gives the word ‘busy’ a whole different meaning.

Whether I am bathing Eric, we’re playing with stacking cups, reading baby books, going for a walk in the pram or doing nursery rhymes, 90% of my time is spent ensuring that this cheeky little human is getting the best possible start in life. And I feel so grateful for the fact that we can give him exactly that.

But that isn’t to say I don’t need a little me-time every so often, too. And one thing I still really enjoy doing for myself is my makeup.

I don’t wear makeup every day like I used to as I just don’t have the time and I also enjoy that feeling of my skin having a break and properly breathing. But when I do choose to wear makeup, as you can imagine, my makeup routine is quite a lot different than it used to be.

I used to spend ages doing my makeup, as it’s always been therapeutic to me and I genuinely enjoy doing it. But these days, although I still enjoy it, I’m very conscious of time and I like to get things done much quicker than I used to.

And I imagine that this is the same for all other busy mums! So, for this blog post, I thought I’d share my makeup routine for mums. So, if you’ve been looking for makeup tips for mums, then you’ve come to the right place.

Let’s get to it…

Makeup Tips For Busy Mums

1. Use tinted moisturiser

Tinted moisturiser is such a great product and it’s so easy to apply. Unlike foundation, you don’t need to use a brush to apply this stuff and depending on the one you go for, you can still get a decent amount of coverage, too. I love the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser. The coverage is sheer but enough to really enhance the skin and provide a healthy, all-over glow.

It’ll take you about 30 seconds to blend uour tinted moisturiser in, and that’s your main base product done.

2. Give cream concealer a go

If you feel the need for a little extra coverage or you’ve got a few imperfections that you want to hide, then you may feel the need to reach for your concealer.

If you’re a busy mum like me, then my advice would be to invest in a good cream concealer. Liquid concealers are great but they take longer to apply and there’s a lot of blending required. Cream concealer on the other hand is just super quick and easy to apply. I love the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit - it's fab! For a more affordable alternative, try the Revolution Conceal & Fix Concealer.

Simply take your index finger and dab concealer onto the areas you wish to brighten. Pat a few more times to blend everything in, and you’re good to go. Easy peasy!

3. Invest in a stick bronzer and blusher

Bronzer and blusher sticks are fantastic. They can be used in multiple different ways, which is always great, but most importantly, they’re quick to apply and easy to blend in.

A couple of my favourite makeup stick products include the NARS The Multiple and the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio

4. Use brow mascara

You can’t beat a good pair of brows, but when you’re a mum, sometimes you have to be a bit more realistic with your expectations. On occasion, you’ll have to skip the brow pencil and the brow gel - but don’t worry, as long as you’ve got some brow mascara, you’ll be fine!

Products like the Benefit Gimme Brow and Rimmel Wonderfull 24Hr Brow Mascara are perfect for heightening definition without looking over the top. And better yet, they take just a few seconds to stroke through the brow hairs. It literally couldn’t be easier.

5. Volumising mascara is the way to go

If you’re anything like me, then mascara is probably the one makeup product you rely on more than any other these days - because let’s face it, us mums need all the help we can get when it comes to looking awake!

And that’s why having a great mascara to hand is so important.

If you haven’t already, then now is the time to invest in a volumising mascara. If you have shorter lashes, then you may wish to find something that lengthens, too - but what’s really going to brighten your eyes and wake up your face is thick, black lashes that really frame your eyes.

A couple of my favourites include the Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes Mascara and LancĂ´me Lash Idole Mascara - both of which are great for really plumping up those lashes.

6. Tinted lip balm is your new best friend

And finally, one thing that you absolutely can’t leave the house without is a tinted lip balm!

I’m lipstick mad, but as a busy mummy, I find tinted lip balm much easier to apply on the go and when I’m in a hurry. A couple that I really like and highly recommend include the Lanolips Tinted Lip Balm in Rhubarb and as an indulgent splurge, the gorgeous Dior Addict Lip Glow in Rose Gold.

And there you have it! Effortless mummy glamour at its absolute finest!

I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post and I can’t wait to share more with you very soon!

Lots of love,

Grace x
