MY EVERYDAY MAKEUP ROUTINE.

It’s been a while since I talked about my everyday makeup routine so I thought I’d share an update on what I’m using at the moment and how I’m applying my favourite makeup products. As always, my aim when I do my makeup is to create a look that’s dewy, natural and flawless all at the same time. You guys know how much I love my dewy, sun-kissed skin and that hasn’t changed, although there are a couple of products I’m about to feature here that I haven’t shared or spoken about before. So, here goes...

Primer

As I love my glowing skin, I always like to start things off with a primer that illuminates my skin and makes it shimmer. At the moment, I’m flipping between the L’Oreal Glow Cherie primer and the MAC Strobe Cream. Both are great products and provide the skin with a lovely sheen, but I have to admit, the MAC Strobe Cream does nourish the skin more effectively and it goes on a little bit nicer, too. Both are great though - so if you’re looking for something a little more affordable, L’Oreal has got you covered.

When it comes to applying my primer, I just use my fingertips - no brushes or blenders needed here.

My Everyday Makeup Products

Foundation

Foundation is one of those makeup products that takes me ages to finally decide on, and then when I eventually do, I stick with it for ages. A couple of my past favourites have included the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation, of which I had about 3 different shades, and the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, which has become somewhat of a beauty cult classic.

At the moment, though, I’m using the Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation, and I love it. Similarly to NARS and Charlotte Tilbury, this foundation has been designed to make the complexion radiate and glow, but at £48 a bottle, it’s quite a bit pricier than the other foundations I’ve used previously.

To apply my Bobbi Brown foundation, I use my Real Techniques Expert Face brush. I find that small, light brush strokes work best.

Concealer

My favourite ever concealer is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (I use shade Vanilla or Custard), but having heard loads about it from other bloggers/magazine articles and so on, I decided to treat myself to a tube of the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer.

I apply this concealer to my under eyes and wherever else I feel needs a bit of a pick-me-up/cheeky enhancement using the sponge at the end, and then blend everything in using my Real Techniques blending sponge. I find that a slightly damp sponge works best as it helps disperse the product more evenly, so try to remember to spritz your blender with a bit of face mist beforehand.

I love this concealer from Maybelline

Powder

Setting powders are one cosmetic product that I always find particularly difficult to shop for as there are few that really compliment that fresh-skinned look that I’m going for. However, one that I do love and have been using for over a year now is the Hourglass Veil Loose Setting Powder. This product is so lightweight and it really does act as a light veil that just enhances the skin and makes it look fabulous.

When applying, I focus primarily on setting my under eyes using a smaller face brush, before moving into a larger brush to dust more powder over the rest of my face. This product lasts for ages and it’s just wonderful. Highly recommend.

Bronzer

The bronzer I use hasn’t changed since the last time I shared a makeup update, and to be honest, i think it’s unlikely it will ever change! I’ve been using the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in shade Medium Tan for over 5 years now and I love it so much that I’m in no way compelled to explore anything else. This bronzer applies like a dream and just looks sensational. Obsessed.

Blusher

I think my favourite ever blush has to be the original NARS Orgasm Blusher, because, well, it’s completely incredible. However, I’ve been using the Charlotte Tilbury blusher for quite some time now and I really like this one, too.

With blush, I think a really light application looks most effective, so I just use my Real Techniques blush brush to dust the tiniest amount over my cheeks, and the job’s a good’un.

Highlighter Makeup

I am absolutely 100% one of those women that could easily get heavy-handed with the highlighter, but I try not to get too carried away or I do end up looking like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.

The highlighter that I’m currently using and have been for many years now is the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in shade Soft & Gentle. It’s such a fab product and again, one that I’m reluctant to stray from as I’m still complimented on it so much!

I recently shared a review of the Lacura Liquid Illuminator Drops and I’m using these to highlight my skin, too, but I prefer to use liquid highlighters as a means of making my vase makeup glow that little bit more, so most days, I’ll mix those drops in either with my primer or foundation for an extra touch of sparkle. Love it!

Eyebrow Makeup

I’ve already got really dark, thick eyebrows so I don’t tend to use a lot of eyebrow makeup if I’m completely honest. However, as I’m currently pregnant and therefore unable to get my brows tinted like I would normally, I have been relying on a couple of products to give me that more polished, statement look that I’m after.

The NYX Eyebrow Pencil in Espresso has been a God-send to me over the last few months, and I’ve been loving the Rimmel Wonferfull 24Hr Brow Mascara, too (although it doesn’t seem to last very long.) My favourite ever brow mascara is the Benefit Gimme Brow but I’m going to use up what I have before I invest in anything else.

Every woman needs a brow mascara in her makeup bag!

Mascara

Mascara is something that I’m typically not very adventurous with, as I feel that when you find one that really does work for you, it’s worth sticking with it. So with that In mind, I’ve been using the same mascara for pretty much the better part of ten years.

The Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara is absolutely one of my ultimate holy grail beauty products and as I’m asked so frequently what mascara I use, I can safely make the assumption that others are just as obsessed with the results as I am. What I love about this mascara is that it provides ample volume and length without ever looking clumpy. It’s also an absolute steal, coming in at around £10 depending on where you buy from.

Lip Liner

Moving on from one makeup must-have to another, its now finally time for me to talk about my favourite part of my whole makeup routine - the lips!

I am definitely more of a lips girl than an eyes girl, and whilst I do appreciate and admire all the incredible things that can be done using eye shadows and eyeliners etc, for me, lip products will always win.

I absolutely love plumping up my pout and defining the shape of my lips using a bit or lip liner, and for me, nothing beats MAC Whirl. A neutral, pinky-brown shade that looks good on everyone, MAC Whirl is a staple in every woman’s makeup collection, and a part of my everyday makeup routine that I simply couldn’t be without. It’s incredible.

Lipstick

Cupid’s bow perfectly defined, now it’s time to finish the whole look off with a stroke of lipstick, and for me, it just has to be MAC Angel.

Honestly, I am just so in love with this lipstick - no matter how many others I try, I always go back to it. It’s the perfect soft pink shade with a very slight blue undertone, and it’s just so beautiful. It also pairs absolutely seamlessly with my trusty MAC Whirl lip liner, which makes it doubly amazing.

And that's just about it really for my everyday makeup look and the products that I use. To top things off I usually just use a face mist or setting spray to add an extra touch of dewiness to my complexion, and then I'm good to go. For those interested, the face mist that I'm currently using is the Revolution Skincare Superfruit Essence Spray, which smells divine.

And this is more or less the end look - a nice, natural, everyday glam that's perfect for any occasion or event

I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post & I can't wait to share more with you soon.

Lots of love,
Grace x
