As you lot know, I’m obsessed with beauty and I’m constantly on the lookout for new topics to cover on here, products you might love and solutions to your beauty problems. So, when a friend of mine suggested doing this post, I made a note of it straight away and immediately started planning away.
Of course, there are simple, short term solutions to your eye bag woes - concealer, anyone? There are tons of great ones out there! But if you’re looking for something a little longer term or that doesn’t require layers of full-coverage concealer, then you’ve come to the right place.
In this blog post, I’m going to share with you my top tips on how to prevent eye bags or, if you’re already dealing with them, improve the problem so that your eyes can begin to look lighter, brighter and more beautiful.
Sound good? Right, let’s get to it...
1. Drink More Water
If you’re sick of hearing about how important water is in terms of maintaining a healthy, youthful and clear complexion, then I’m sorry - but I just had to include this as part of the list.
Water works wonders on the skin. It hydrates our entire bodies and helps us to detox, flushing away any toxins and ‘bad stuff’ that may impact how we look or feel. And one of the biggest things that it affects is our skin.
Not only does water keep our skin looking clear, or also helps skin maintain a plump and youthful appearance, diminishing eye bags and making everything look 1000 times better. Word.
2. Always Use Eye Cream
Eye cream is something I've only been using for a few months, but already, my eyes are looking tons brighter and more awake than they used to. And while eye bags aren't an issue I tend to suffer with, I know lots of other girls/women with this problem that swear by their trusty tube of eye cream.
Most eye creams will promise to relieve dark circles and bags, but of course, as with all things beauty, some products are more effective than others.
So, to save you a job, I've pulled together three of the proven, most effective eye creams for under eye bags and dark circles:
5. Apply Chilled Tea Bags To Your Eyes
Okay, so this might sound a little strange, but trust me, it works!
You can use green tea bags or normal tea bags for this, but as a general rule, it's believed that green tea bags get the job done faster (15 minutes rather than 30).
This amazing hack requires just two wet, chilled tea bags (not sopping wet - you don't want tea dripping all over your face) and that's literally it. Place the tea bags on top of your eye lids and rest your eyes for 15-30 minutes. By doing this, any signs of puffiness or darkness will be reduced, and your eyes will immediately look brighter. Yay!

I really hope you enjoyed this blog post & can't wait to share more with you soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out my related blog post 'How To Make Your Skin Look Younger.'

I'm also a huge fan of the Clarins Multi Active Eye Cream, which I featured in my 'Clarins Skincare And Makeup: My Latest Must-Haves' blog post.
3. Get Plenty Of Sleep!
We all seem to be leading such busy lives these days and as we try to cram more and more things into our days, we often find that the amount of time we are actually sleeping is, well, scarily low.
I don't know about you, but I really do love my sleep and when I don't get enough of it, I simply don't function the same as I would otherwise. But as well as this, not getting enough sleep can wreak havoc on our skin and our physical tiredness begins to show on our faces.
And the eyes are always one of the worst effected areas.
Eye bags and dark circles are one of the biggest tell-tale signs that someone isn't catching enough z's, so if you've been noticing that your eyes are looking dark or puffy recently, it's about time you had a rest!
You can find out more about how lack of sleep affects your eyes in Bio Effect's '7 Common Causes Of Eye Bags & Dark Circles' post.
4. Cut Down Your Alcohol Intake
It's no secret that a copious amount of alcohol is no good for anyone, but if you're someone who is concerned about the state of their under eyes, then seriously, listen up.
Alcohol is so bad for the skin (check out '5 Boring But Real Effects Alcohol Has On Your Skin' to find out more!) and the under eyes in particular are one of the areas in particular that really suffer as a result of a heavy alcohol intake.
So, if you really want to look fresher and younger, put down the wine, and a have a nice green tea to cleanse your body before you go to bed. You'll feel better for it in the morning, and you'll look better, too!
